Lancaster’s Swim team travelled to Sheffield in week 5 to compete in the BUCS short course championships. Over the weekend 10 University records were broken and the girls freestyle relay team reached the B final on Saturday evening breaking but just missing out on another Uni record!! The most surprising record to be broken was Sterling Austin in the 100 breaststroke after establishing himself as team backstroker, he finished with a time of 1:13.38.
Jinny Gunston in her last swim for L.U.S.T did an amazing swim in the 50m butterfly with a time of 31.13 to break another record.
On Saturday night once again we descended upon Sheffield Hallam Student Union, Speedos’ and all, girls even sporting swimsuits for the tight and bright theme, which I won’t be repeating in the near future.
Over the weekend the team faced tough competition, competing against Olympians and Commonwealth Champions, Liam Tancock probably the one most admired!
After a tough weekend of competition the boys also managed to win a tough game of waterpolo when we returned to Lancaster on Sunday evening.
